Customs Union’s launches new firework regulation

The first technical regulations of the Customs Union (CU) on the safety of pyrotechnic items will come into force from Feb.15. The corresponding decision No.770 of the CU Commission was adopted in Moscow on Aug.16, 2011.

The first technical regulations of the Customs Union (CU) on the safety of pyrotechnic items will come into force from Feb.15. The corresponding decision No.770 of the CU Commission was adopted in Moscow on Aug.16, 2011.

Technical regulations are applied to pyrotechnic items put into circulation in the areas of the Customs Union, regardless of country of origin. The requirements in particular affect 'domestic entertainment pyrotechnics, lighting and signal and fireworks, as well as industrial, training and tourist pyrotechnics.

According to the CU Commission's decision, documents on the confirmation of compliance with the requirements set by national laws of the CU member states or legal acts remain valid until the their expiration date, but no later than August 15, 2013.

In the case of availability of such documents issued before entry of the technical regulations coming into force, the relevant products are permitted to be produced and put into circulation until Aug.15, 2013. Such pyrotechnics should be marked with a national mark of conformity.

Issuance of documents on confirming compliance with the requirements set by previous legislation of the CU member countries, or the CU normative legal acts is prohibited from the date of entry of the CU technical regulations coming into force.
