Uzbekistan, ADB to discuss joint projects

Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda has today arrived in Tashkent, the ADB Office in Uzbekistan said on Thursday.

According to the office employee, during the visit Mr Kuroda will discuss existing projects implemented with financial assistance of the bank, as well as promising directions of cooperation with the government.

In addition, loan agreements will be signed on loans and other documents approved by the ADB Board of Directors.

ADB President will also attend a plenary meeting of the conference "Upbringing of Educated and Intellectually Advanced Generation as the Most Important Condition of Sustainable Development and Modernization of the Country".

Uzbekistan is a ADB member since 1995 and today it is the major loans recipient of this financial institution in Central Asia.

Since 1995, ADB has allocated more than $2 billion to Uzbekistan for projects in the spheres of education, agriculture, upgrading transport infrastructure and energy sector.
