SECO to complete new strategy for Azerbaijan to the middle 2012

Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) will complete the development of a new business strategy in Azerbaijan for 2013-2016 to the middle of 2012, SECO representative in Azerbaijan, Philipp Keller told Trend.

"We certainly will continue to support Azerbaijani economy, however, the main directions of the strategy has not been determined, we will discuss this strategy, which will determine the main areas of cooperation for 2013-2016 in March," Keller said.
Keller noted that some areas of the new strategy will be revealed in April.

"Cooperation will be continued on the existing two areas - to support the private sector and macroeconomic policy. However, not excluded the possibility that the SECO resumed funding of infrastructure projects," Keller said.

SECO will invest 6 million euros to finance projects in the country in 2012.

The Swiss Cooperation Office for the South Caucasus, operating in Azerbaijan, represents two organizations - Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), which, in turn, is part of the Swiss Foreign Ministry and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) - part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Switzerland. The office was opened in Azerbaijan in 2002 to assist the country in economic reforms. This assistance focuses on infrastructure projects, projects to support financial sector development, promoting private sector development, supporting the Azerbaijani government in conducting macroeconomic policy.
