Kazakh railway company sues Russian Metallurgical Combine for $200,000

The Arbitration Court of Russian Sverdlovsk region has begun proceedings in the suit of the Kazakh railway company Kaztemirtrans against the Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Combine (Russia), UralBusinessConsulting news agency reported.

The Kaztemirtrans seeks 5.96 million ruble (roughly $200,000) damages caused by wheel break, which were produced by Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Combine. The accident took place in May, 2009 and led to 9 railway carriages derailment.

The Kazakh company refers to the technical experts conclusions prepared by Dnipropetrovsk National Railway Transport University.

Meanwhile, the Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Combine did not recognize the results of the examination and filed a petition for additional examination.

The court proceeded to the trial on the case.
