About 48.9 million tons were transported by vehicles in Georgia in 2011, or 1 percent more than last year, the Economy Ministry said today.
According to the information, 71.1 million tons were transported using various types of transport during the period.
About 41 percent of the total volume of cargo falls to vehicles, 31 percent - ships and 28 percent - train.
In 2011, the Batumi Sea port transported 7.9 million tons of cargo, Poti - 7.2 million tons.
About 331.0 million passengers were transported by vehicles, or 3 percent more compared to the previous year.
