China, Iran to co-produce herbal medications

At a conference on traditional and herbal medicines, the vice-president of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export Medicines & Health Products announced his country's readiness to partner with Iran, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.

Chinese merchants and those in the herbal medicine industry want access Iran's products, said Mr. Liuzhang Lin during his appearance at the Tehran conference. Later this month, some Iranian herbal medicine manufacturers may attend an exhibition on herbal medicines in China.

Iran wants to expand its trade with China in herbal medicines and other areas, said Kiumars Fathollah Kermanshahi a deputy director at the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran (TPO). Iran and China can work together to increase the near $45 billion currently being traded annually, said Mr. Kermanshahi.

A delegation of Iranian herbal medication producers was in Beijing on Wednesday for further talks.
