Turkmenistan and Ukraine Chambers of Commerce co-operate

An agreement on the cooperation between Turkmenistan and Ukraine Chamber of Commerce was signed in Kiev as part of the government visit of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to the Ukraine, the Turkmen government said.

'It will certainly be a catalyst in the process of further enhancing Turkmen-Ukrainian cooperation', the statement said.

The signing of the agreement was the result of a joint business forum. The two governments, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of government agencies and businesses are involved in the work of the forum.

More than 100 leading Ukrainian companies specialising in the energy sector, oil and gas industry, construction and transportation industries, finance and banking, innovative technology, agriculture and food industry are taking part at the forum.

Proposals to expand the scope and range of mutual trade and intensify economic cooperation were considered. Suggestions about the prospects of cooperation in the energy sector were of a particular interest, the report said.

A number of on-going joint projects in various industries are being implemented as part of the Turkmen-Ukrainian co-operation framework, the state news service Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary (TDH) wrote on Tuesday.

A major regional project for the construction of the Atamyrat-Kerkichi railway bridge and the continued construction of the road bridge across the Amu Darya are among them.

"Taking into account the priorities of the state of the two countries, cooperation in fields of the high-tech sectors of the economy and industry, in energy, engineering, agriculture, transport and communications, as well as tourism is considered as promising," TDH wrote.
The Turkmen delegation visits the administrative centres of Kiev, Donetsk, Odessa and Kharkiv regions which are the leading industrial areas of Ukraine.
