Investments in Georgia increase by 20 percent in 2011

The estimated investments in Georgia amounted to $981 million in 2011, which is 20 percent more than during the previous year, Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia said on Wednesday.

She said the bulk of investments are made in industry. The spheres of investors' interest were transport and communications. Reinvestment trend also increased, which accounted for 38.5 percent.

The biggest investors were the Netherlands, Japan and Azerbaijan.

These are preliminary statistics. The Georgian Statistics Service will publish the revised figures in August.
