Azerbaijan, Baku, March 18 / Trend M. Moezzi/

A member of Iran's Majlis (parliament) will pursue the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs' impeachment over the appointment of a controversial figure as the head of the social security organization, Mehr news reports.

The Social Security Organization's economic importance makes it essential that experienced managers run it; something that has happened rarely over the last years said MP Parviz Sarvari. It would be best for the Labor minister to cancel the appointment or for Saeed Mortazavi, the appointee, to withdraw said Mr. Sarvari.

If the appointment isn't canceled, then MPs will put the impeachment plan they've already written into action.

Saeed Mortazavi was the lead prosecutor in Tehran when he gained notoriety over the death of an Iranian-Canadian citizen in custody. He was accused in the abuse and death of prisoners held in the popular unrest after Iran's 2009 presidential elections.
