Kazakh wheat quality has virtually no competitors in the world, Kazakh Grain Union President Nurlan Tleubayev said in an exclusive interview with Trend.

"We do not give in by the quality of our wheat, as gluten content hits up to 22-23 percent," he said. There is the worst wheat with 12 percent gluten. This feature of Kazakh wheat is caused by a special dry climate of the Kazakh steppes. That is why, Kazakhstan's wheat is purchased as a flour improver."

He stressed that wheat with gluten content of 12 percent refers to the third class.

"Russia and Ukraine, exporting wheat of the third class, get $260 per ton at the exchange, while the Kazakh wheat with 15.3 percent gluten 'hi-pro' $ 380 per ton," he said.

He stressed that the republic will be able to export grain to the amount of 13 million tons in the 2011-2012 trading year.

"We had great crop last year," he added."

Kazakhstan is among the largest grain exporters on the world markets.
