Growth rates of crop production in Azerbaijan are double livestock

As of April 1, 104.62 thousand hectares have been ploughed under spring crops in Azerbaijan, which is 5.4 per cent less compared to the same period last year, the State Committee on Statistics said.

Some 36 000 hectares 34.4 per cent of the total crops was planted under long term culture, potatoes - 28.96 thousand hectares (27.6 per cent) and vegetables - 23.2 thousand hectares (22.1 per cent).

Production of meat increased by 2.5 per cent, milk by 2.9 per cent and eggs by 10.7 per cent in January - March this year compared to the same period last year.
The value of fish caught and services rendered by fishing households totalled 48.1 million manat in the first quarter of 2012.

Agricultural production in Azerbaijan at current prices amounted to 497.2 million manat in January - March increasing by 3.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2011. Growth of crop production was 6.4 per cent and livestock production, 3.2 per cent.
