Azerbaijani bank focuses on serious increase in client base

Azerbaijani Nikoil Bank plans to launch several programs and projects to increase the customer base, the bank told Trend on Thursday.

These programs include the projects on car loans, bonus program for plastic cards. It is planned to pay more attention to raising qualification of bank employees, to improve service quality in the bank. The large scale project "Big deal" was launched. A number of activities were prepared.

"In February we launched a motivation program for students via plastic cards," the bank said. "They will have a chance to earn, to get jobs and a few gifts from the bank."

As of 2011, Nikoil Bank's deposit portfolio increased by 72 percent and hit 95.56 million manat compared to 2010. The increase in the number of active cards amounted to 40 percent. The growth in balance on card accounts was the same. The total deposit portfolio of the bank amounted to 123.5 million manat (with the growth of 64 percent) as of 2011.

The bank's loan portfolio as of January 1, 2012 amounted to 128.6 million manat, including the loans to physical entities - 80.4 million manat (with the growth of 14 per cent).

Nikoil Bank increased the reserve fund, in particular, the loans to legal entities - by 52 percent to 11.5 million manat due to a fourfold increase in the share of the bank's problem loans to 6.5 million manat in 2011.

The bank's assets in 2011 increased by 2.3 per cent and amounted to 176.3 million manat.

Nikoil Bank has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1997 after the founding of the Nikoil Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC Nikoil). Since 1998, AIC Nikoil has been a shareholder of the Ulpar commercial bank. Topaz Investments purchased a controlling stake in Nikoil AIC in 2008. Nikoil Bank's shareholders are: Topaz Investments - 53.1 per cent; CAIC Nikoil - 28.7 per cent; Uralsib-Invest - 13.9 per cent and ISR Holding - 4.3 per cent.

The official exchange rate is 0.7861 AZN/USD on April 26.
