Business circles in South Korea intend to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan

Representatives of business circles of Uzbek and Korean business circles discussed issues of trade and economic and investment cooperation between the entrepreneurs of both countries in Tashkent on Tuesday.

The delegation included the heads of Korean companies engaged in the production of environmentally clean technologies, energy saving lamps, plastics, automotive parts and equipment for furniture manufacturing.

The visit of the Korean delegation organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan and Korean-Eurasian center of industrial technology cooperation (KEITCC) under the Korea Polytechnic University.

During business negotiations and cooperation exchange, the sides discussed prospective directions of cooperation and opportunity to establish direct mutually beneficial contacts.
Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and South Korea amounted to $1.628 billion in 2011, including exports from Uzbekistan amounted to $142.4 million, and imports - $1.486 million.

Currently there are 359 enterprises with Korean investments 62 of which- with one hundred percent Korean capital. Their activities are concentrated in trade, light industry, mining and metallurgy, chemical industry, food industry, machine building and metal working, housing and utilities, healthcare, tourism and services.

Representations of 84 Korean companies accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan.
