In January-March 2012 actual proceeds to the revenue part of Azerbaijan's state budget amounted to 3.487.8 billion manat (28.4 per cent of GDP), or 26 percent more compared to the same period last year, the government told Trend on Tuesday.
State budget expenditures increased by 36.2 percent and amounted to 2.843.2 billion manat (23.1 percent of GDP). The budget surplus for January - March amounted to 644.6 million manat or 5.2 percent of GDP.
In the structure of revenues, some 39.9 percent (1.39 billion manat) have been provided by the Ministry of Taxes. Revenues from customs duties and taxes amounted to 251.7 million manat (with share of 7.2 per cent), from other sources - 1.845.7 billion manat (52.9 percent).
During the reporting period proceeds from VAT collection amounted to 502.2 million manat, which accounts for 14.4 percent of total income, profit tax revenues amounted to 487.1 million manat (14 percent), income taxes - 177.1 million manat (5.1 percent), excise tax - 122.8 million manat (3.5 percent), property tax - 26.7 million manat (0.8 percent), land tax - 7.3 million manat (0.2 percent), tax on mineral resources - 33.6 million manat (one percent), and the tax on foreign economical activity - 175.9 million manat (five percent).
The government allocated to social security and protection of the population in the first quarter from the budget 560.1 million manat (with a share of 19.7 per cent), education - 256.4 million manat (nine percent), health care - 82.4 million manat (2.9 percent), maintenance of prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial authorities - 169.8 million manat (six percent), investments in the economy - 1.133.6 billion manat (39.9 percent).
Investment in housing and utility costs amounted to 33.8 million manat (1.2 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing - 59.3 million manat (2.1 percent), transport and communications - 12.8 million manat (0.5 percent).
Some 39.7 percent (1.128.7 billion manat) of public expenditure was spent on the payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.
The official exchange rate is 0.786 AZN to $1 on May 8.
