The Board of Governors of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will elect the new president of the bank during the Annual Meeting on 18-19 May 2012, EBRD reported on Thursday.

The Board of Governors of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will elect the new president of the bank during the Annual Meeting on 18-19 May 2012, EBRD reported on Thursday.

According to the report, five candidates, including the current bank's president Thomas Mirow, have applied for the post to head the bank.

Among the candidates are former prime minister of Poland Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, Permanent Secretary (senior civil servant) at the UK's Ministry of Justice, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development of Serbia Bozidar Djelic, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Philippe de Fontaine Vive Curtaz and the current president of EBRS Thomas Mirow.

The election is scheduled for 18 May. The results of the election are expected to be made in the evening of the same day.
