Belarus is interested in developing investment cooperation with Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov, BelTA reported.

The government head stressed the high level of bilateral relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan, as well as the trusted relationship between the two heads of states which largely contributed to the implementation of joint projects. Close cooperation is developing between the finance ministries of the two countries. "I think we have learned to trade well, but it's now past that stage," Myasnikovich believes. "It is necessary to develop investment cooperation, including building a logistics centre. We need to evaluate partnership opportunities in carriage building," he added.

According to Myasnikovich, the two countries have sufficient potential to implement other major investment projects. Belarus is also interested in expanding its innovative partnership with Azerbaijan. In this sphere, joint projects on light-emitting diodes and nano and biotechnology are already planned. "These projects are not so scaled in costs, but it is a good basis for strengthening our cooperation," Myasnikovich believes.
