As of July 23, about 2.41 million tons of autumn and spring crops were gathered in Azerbaijan, or 9.36 per cent more than the same period of last year, the ministry of agriculture said today.
About 916,220 hectares (an increase of 2.7 per cent) were cultivated on 995,890 hectares (increased by 6.7 per cent per year) during the period.
The yield of grain crops as a whole has grown over the year from 24.7 to 26.3 quintals per hectare (increased by 6.5 per cent).
As of July 23, the country gathered 1.69 million tons of wheat which is 4.4 per cent more than in the same period last year. Yields of this crop for the year rose from 25.1 to 26.9 quintals per hectare.
Last year the country collected about 2.5 million tons of grain. The Ministry of Agriculture expects a collection of at least 2.7 million tons this year.
