Uzbekistan is inviting Azerbaijani businessmen to take advantage of the free industrial economic zone Navoi, Uzbek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sherzod Faiziev told reporters on Wednesday.
"Implementation of the projects in this area is being carried out in two directions - ensuring all international transit flights, primarily cargo flights and promotion towards the construction of industrial facilities in the area. More than a dozen industrial plants have been created in the area," Faiziev said.
He noted that the free industrial economic zone Navoi is transportation and transit hub and that Azerbaijan can increase its trade relations with Asian countries, using these opportunities.
"If the interests of Azerbaijani air carriers turn to Asia, particularly the Southeast, the Navoi hub can play an important role to ensure that these communications facilitate the development of trade in Azerbaijan. We are interested in it," Faiziev said.
The Free Navoi Industrial-Economic Zone, established in 2008 in an area of 564 hectares near the city of Navoi, is one of the most industrialised cities of Uzbekistan. It offers ample opportunities for foreign investors and a big competitive advantage in the creation of industrial complexes with full production in all industries. Priority is given to the establishment of a wide range of high-tech industries which are competitive in world markets through the introduction of modern efficient equipment and technology, technological lines and modules and innovative technologies in the following industries and sectors:
- Manufacture of electrical products and telecommunications equipment;
- Manufacture of machinery, instrumentation and production of component parts;
- Manufacture of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment;
- Processing and packaging of food products;
- Manufacture of plastic and polymer products.
A special legal regime providing a range of privileges and preferences operates in FIEZ Navoi for the period of its operation.
