Kazakhstan, Astana, Aug.9 / Trend, D.Mukhtarov /
Kazakhstan could export more grain to China, Grain Union of Kazakhstan President Nurlan Tleubayev said.
He said the supply of Kazakh wheat to China began in 2009. Initially, shipments amounted to only 2,000 tons, but the figure reached 70,000 tons per month in 2011.
"China's needs Kazakh grain and this need will grow from year to year," he said. However, he added that the border railway can only receive 25,000 tons of grain per month.
The Alashankou - Dostyk border railway is the first railway crossing between China and Kazakhstan, which opened in 1991.
