Existing problems in the energy sector were discussed in Georgia.
Over the past seven years, electricity consumption has almost doubled in Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili said at a meeting with the country's Energy Minister Vakhtang Balavadze.
He said the sharp increase in consumption has had a negative impact on the qualitative electricity supply for the regions.
Merabishvili instructed the new energy minister to develop a plan to address this problem as soon as possible.
The meeting also discussed installing individual meters in regions, which should be completed in 2013, as well as gasification.
