Kazakhstan's grain export potential for 2012-2013 marketing year is forecasted at 12 million tons, Novosti-Kazakhstan quotes Kazakh Agriculture Ministry's spokesman Eugene Aman as saying.

"We believe that about one million tons will be transshipped per month and export potential will reach 12 million tons in the next marketing year," Aman said on Wednesday at an online conference on bnews.kz portal.

Earlier, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov forecasted grain export at 10 million tons in 2012-2013 marketing year.

Meanwhile, according to Aman, Kazakhstan expects to harvest 13 million tons of grain in gross weight in 2012.

"According to the regions' information as of Aug.1, gross grain export expected at 13 million tons. This figure will be specified," Aman said.

Kazakhstan is among the world's major grain exporters. In 2011 a record harvest of nearly 27 million tons of grain in net weight was recorded in the country. Export potential was estimated at 15 million tons.
