Chairman of the Turkmen Parliament Akja Nurberdieva accepted the credentials of the new Ambassador of Croatia Drazen Hrasticha, Turkmen TV said on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the development of the priority areas of cooperation in fuel and energy, industry, transport, telecommunications, construction and tourism.

"It was noted that the business community of Croatia appreciates the prospects of joint business," the media said.

The official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to Zagreb which was held in June 2009, contributed to the development of bilateral relations.

It is noted in the final joint communique that the Republic of Croatia supports Turkmenistan's efforts to ensure global energy security and the development of mechanisms for reliable and stable transit of energy resources to world markets.

Turkmenistan is one of the key suppliers of natural gas in the Caspian region. Until recently, delivery was carried out only with Russia and Iran. There has been an opportunity to export to China since 2009 using the pipeline built by CNPC. Ashgabat has studied fuel transportation projects to India and Europe.

Turkmenistan considers the Republic of Croatia as an important partner in South-east Europe and the Balkans. In particular, it was reported in July that the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan plans to sign a contract for the construction and purchase of two car passenger ferries Ro-Pax with ULJANIK Brodogradiliste dd.
