Iranian chicken breeders are suffering 3.45 trillion rials (some $280 million) loss due to the lack of governmental support, a state official announced on Sunday.
The loss has been incurred during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, Farzad Talakesh added, the Mehr News Agency reported.
Some 70 percent of chicken farms are working nationwide, he said, adding that the per capita consumption of eggs in Iran is 108, which is below the world average figure.
