Russian companies are going to buy grain from Kazakhstan this year, Managing Director of JSC NC Food Corporation Marat Seisenov said at a joint meeting of JSC NC Food Corporation JSC and KazakstanTemirTrans on Wednesday.

"There are many requests from companies in neighboring Russia for the purchase of our Kazakh grain received by Food Corporation this year," Seisenov said.

He noted that one of the reasons for such a situation is floods in the southern grain-producing regions of Russia, which affected the crop. The summer drought also play a role in it.

Russia is one of the largest grain exporters in the world.

"In addition, it is cheaper for Russians to buy grain from Kazakhstan to deliver it to the same Far East, Siberia, than take it out of the southern regions of Russia", - he added.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture, grain from 98.9 percent of the area has been already harvested.

According to the Regional Department of Agriculture, agricultural producers harvested 15,229,100 hectares on October 8, which is 98.9 percent of the harvested area, the average yield amounted to 9.4 tons per hectare.

Last year, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tons of grain. Low harvest this season is due to the drought, which was observed in the summer in main grain regions. The outlook for the harvest this year is 14 million tons.
