Iran and Egypt plan to resume their economic ties in the near future, deputy head of Iran Exports Confederation Seyyed Reza Noorani said.
"A delegation consisted of Egyptian businessmen are now in Tehran to discuss the possible ways of cooperation," the Fars News Agency quoted Noorani as saying.
"The Egyptians plan to import Iranian kiwi and apple and suggested to export citrus to Tehran," he added.
Iran plans to diversify the destinations for its agricultural products exports.
According to Noorani, Iran will send an agricultural cargo to Kuwait on Saturday.
The 160-ton cargo, which is mainly consisted of fruits, will depart Bushehr port on Saturday, the Mehr News Agency quoted Nourani as saying.
Iran also plans to send other cargos to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain.
The value of exports of agricultural products in Iran was $64.1 billion more than imports in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19, the agriculture minister Sadeq Khalilian said on Friday.
Khalilian did not mention to specific values of exports and imports, but said that the exports included 77 million tons of farming crops, 18.3 million tons of garden products, 720,000 tons of fishery products, and 14.3 million tons of anima products.
