Number of foreign-payers of compulsory social insurance in Azerbaijan increases by 9 percent

The number of foreigners registered in individual registration system of the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund increased by 8.6 percent (1,051 people) during a year, the Social Fund said on Monday.

The number of foreigners registered in individual registration system of the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund increased by 8.6 percent (1,051 people) during a year, the Social Fund said on Monday.

The number of foreigners registered in the system of individual accountability, increased to 13,272 people as of Oct. 1, 2012.

Foreigners registered in Azerbaijan come from 95 countries, the majority being Turkey with 7,733. Georgian citizens ranked second at 1,551 while Russians number 687.

Other countries number the following: 435 Iranians, 294 Indians, 259 Chinese, 169 citizens from the UK, 161 from Uzbekistan, 128 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 116 Pakistanis, 108 Filipinos, 114 Germans, 109 Ukrainians, 87 Malaysians, 91 Turkmen citizens, 78 Kazakh citizens, 93 Italians, 71 Americans were registered.

The Azerbaijani President's decree on the law of 'Individual registration in the state social insurance' was originally signed in December 2001.

The individual registration is intended to organise and keep information about each insured person to provide them with pension and other social rights in accordance with the laws of the country.

The process of compulsory state social insurance of foreigners who receive salaries from sources in Azerbaijan, as well as income from which contributions are paid on compulsory social insurance, has been in force since Jan.1, 2006.
