Minister: Azerbaijan to continue tendency to increase salaries and pensions in the future

Increases in salaries, pensions and other social programmes are a characteristic feature of the state budget in recent years, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov told reporters on Monday.

"I believe that in the coming years this tendency will continue," Sharifov said.

Over 240 million manat is envisaged for increasing the salaries of employees of government financed organisations and social security payments from the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2013. In the future it is planned to increase the wages of 700,000 employees of government financed organisations and civil servants.

Expenses for funding social area in the state budget for 2013 are envisaged to the sum of 5.037.2 billion manat, or 333.1 million manat (7.1 per cent) more than the same period of 2012.

In general, the share of social expenses in 2013 will hit 25.4 per cent of state budget expenses.

The minister said the draft state budget for 2013 is ready and has been submitted by the president to parliament.

The official exchange rate is 0.7850 manat to $1 on Oct.29.
