Annual inflation hits 8 per cent in Turkey

The consumer price index increased by eight per cent in Turkey in October 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute's report said today. Inflation was 1.96 per cent in October compared to the previous month.

The growth of the consumer price index was observed in the housing sector - 11.75 per cent, in the field of goods and services - 10.70 per cent, restaurant and hotel sector - 9.39 per cent and food and non-alcoholic drinks - 7 87 per cent in October compared to the same month of last year.

The greatest increase in consumer prices in October was observed in the production of clothing and footwear - 6.81 per cent, housing sector - 3.31 per cent, transport - 2.06 per cent and communications - 1.30 per cent compared to the previous month.
