Despite international sanctions against Iran, the country's trade turnover is on the rise, IRNA quoted Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines Chairman Mohammad Nahavandian as saying.
Countries which are supporting the imposition of sanctions against Iran are the biggest losers, he added.
"Statistics show that despite sanctions, the volume of our country's trade exchanges has increased," Nahavandian told reporters during the 17th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) board of directors in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Iran conducted $56.38 billion in the trade of non-oil goods with other countries during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, according to Iranian Customs Administration Director Abbas Memarnejad.
Over 45 million tons of goods, valued at $24.67 billion were exported and 23.54 million tons of goods worth $31.71 billion were imported during the seven-month period, he noted.
Iraq was the main importer of Iranian goods during the period, with $3.55 billion of purchases and the United Arab Emirates was the main exporter with $6.38 billion worth of goods sold to Iran, Memarnejad said.
The EU imposed an embargo on purchasing oil and oil products from Iran in July this year, while in October Brussels adopted another major package of economic sanctions.
