A new gas storage facility needs to be built in country's northern provinces (near the Caspian Sea), since there are difficulties with supplying gas there, CEO of Iran's Natural Gas Storage Company Masud Samivend said, IRNA reported.

Samivend made the remarks during the meeting with a group of experts from Amir Kabir University in Tehran.

He said that a source of reliable gas supply is needed to be built in the Iran's northern Golestan province, and currently this isssue is being discussed.

National Iranian Gas Company intends to build underground natural gas reservoirs which could storage some 14 billion cubic meters of gas.

Samivend noted that while there is a gas field there in Gholestan province, its too small for bringing any significant revenue, and it is not enough to supply all the northern provinces with it.
