U.S. Ex-Im Bank to finance purchase of locomotives by Kazakhstan Railways

U.S. Exim Bank will directly finance the purchase of locomotives, built from components of GeneralElectric company, by subsidiary of the Kazakh national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) (Kazakhstan Railways) , the press-service of Locomotive JSC said on Tuesday.

U.S. Exim Bank will directly finance the purchase of locomotives, built from components of GeneralElectric company, by subsidiary of the Kazakh national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) (Kazakhstan Railways) , the press-service of Locomotive JSC said on Tuesday.

"Signing of a loan agreement between the Export-Import Bank of the United States and a group of National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy company took place in Washington on Monday," the company's report stated.

The value of the transaction is more than $ 400 million.

This transaction is the first directly financed by U.S. Eximbank in Kazakhstan.
Locomotive JSC (100 per cent subsidiary "KTZ") is the borrower of this loan.

The project is aimed to fund the purchase of TE33A - "Evolution" locomotives, assembled by GeneralElectric (USA) company.
