Turkish banking sector’s assets increase by almost 10 percent

The assets of the Turkish banking sector increased by 9.7 percent in November 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 1.335 trillion lira, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) of Turkey said in its report on Wednesday.

The assets of the Turkish banking sector increased by 9.7 percent in November 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 1.335 trillion lira, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) of Turkey said in its report on Wednesday.

Profit of the Turkish banking sector increased by 19.3 percent in November 2012 and amounted to 21.7 billion lira compared to the same month of 2011.

During the period from January to November 2012, profit of the Turkish banking sector increased by 15 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

The amount of loans granted by Turkish banks in November increased by 13.4 percent compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 774.6 billion lira.

The official exchange rate is 1.7795 TRY/USD on Jan.9.
