Georgia, Romania discuss development of ferry communication

Georgia and Romania have discussed development of ferry services. The issue was discussed during the meeting of Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Romanian Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu.

Georgia and Romania have discussed development of ferry services. The issue was discussed during the meeting of Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Romanian Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu.

The parties discussed the importance of developing ferry services, Georgian Economy Ministry told Trend on Thursday. It was noted that freight traffic between Europe and Asia via Georgia will be increased.

Furthermore, additional alternative routes will be created from east to west and vice versa, which will contribute to diversification of transport routes and a competitive environment.

The parties agreed that work will be continued on the memorandum developed by representatives of transport ministers and a meeting of the working group will be held in the near future.

Romanian Secretary of State also mentioned the project proposed to Georgia, which envisages creation of a Black Sea - Caspian Sea transport corridor. According to the Romanian side, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan have to be involved in the project of transport corridor, along with Romania.
