Some 17,356 applications have been registered at Iran's Forex Centre up till February 7, the IRNA News Agency reported.
In the week to February 7 a record was marked in the number of registered applications, the Mehr News Agency reported.
According to the Central Bank of Iran, some 1889 application were registered in a week.
The foreign exchange centre was officially inaugurated on September 24.
It aims at allowing importers of goods including truck tyres, construction equipment and synthetic fibres to buy dollars at a rate of two per cent cheaper than the street rate at any given time.
The government maintains an official reference rate of 12,260 rials to the dollar, but only a limited amount of foreign exchange is available at this rate.
