Over 10.52 million tons of goods were transited through Iran in the first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2012), the Fars News Agency quoted Iranian Deputy Roads and Urban Development Minister Shahriyar Afandizadeh as saying.
The figure showed a 14.7 percent rise compared to the figure corresponding to the same period in the preceding year, he added.
About 9.7 million tons of goods were transited by road and 797.6 thousand tons by rail, showing respectively 16.2 percent rise and 1.7 percent fall year on year.
The transited consignments mostly consisted of construction materials, cotton, home appliances, vehicles, foodstuff and fertilizers, the official noted.
Previously, Afandizadeh said that more than 100 countries are currently transiting their goods via Iran.
