Statistics on Iran’s rice, cell phone and clothing imports

Iran imported $1.1 billion worth of rice, $148 million worth of cell phones and $17.5 million worth of clothing in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012-February 18, 2013), the Mehr News Agency reported.

Over 1.1 million tons of rice was imported during the 11month period, compared with showing a 20.25 per cent decrease in weight and a 3.41 per cent decrease in value year on year. India, the UAE and Pakistan were the main exporters of rice to Iran.

Some 704 tons of cell phones were imported during the 11 month period, compared with $73 million worth of imports in the previous year. The UAE and South Korea were the main exports of cell phones to Iran.

Over 1627 tons of textiles was imported during the same period, showing a 15.5 per cent decrease in weight and a 9.7 per cent decrease in value year on year. The UAE, China and Turkey were the main exports of textiles to Iran.
