Azerbaijani foreign trade surplus exceeds $2.7 bln

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced about increase in the volume of foreign trade operations by 4.73 percent in Jan.-Feb. 2013 compared to the same period of last year, the Committee said today. Around 113 world countries were Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for the period.

The total volume of trade turnover of the country amounted to $5.62 billion.

The surplus worth $2.75 billion was formed in foreign trade operations.

Around 2,703 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign trade operations over this period, of which 2,014 are legal entities and 689 physical entities.

The export operations totaled $4.183 billion in Jan.-Feb., or 3.33 percent more compared to the same period of 2012.

The share of public sector in exports totaled $4 billion (95.34 percent), private - $182.6 million (4.37 percent), the share of physical entities - $11.67 million (0.29 percent).

As of January-February, imports amounted to $1.43 billion, or 7.52 percent less compared to the same period of 2012.

The share of public sector in import operations amounted to $448.74 million (31.31 percent), private sector - $891.43 million (62.2 percent) and physical entities - $92.97 million (6.49 percent).

As of January-February, 769 goods were exported from Azerbaijan, while 3,955 goods were imported.
