The "Aslanduz" (Horadiz) border-crossing point in Mugan (Parsabad) - Bahramtepe (Imishli) on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border is prepared to resume activity, Ardebil province governor Akbar Nikzad told the media while examining the checkpoint at "Aslanduz", ISNA agency said today.

"Iran and Azerbaijan have negotiated the re-opening of "Aslanduz" border crossing point. Azerbaijan expressed interest in resuming its operations," Nikzad said. "This checkpoint will be opened in the near future."

The opening of the checkpoint fosters Iranian-Azerbaijani relations and the economic well-being of people living in the border area.

Parsabad city is located in the north of Ardabil province. It has a common land and water border with a length of about 100 kilometers with Azerbaijan.

There are six border crossings on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. At present, five of them - Julfa, Shakhtahti, Astara, Bilasuvar and Imishli checkpoints are operating. "Horadiz" customs point has not been operating for a long time.
