Turkmenistan to enter Baltic states textile market

A delegation from Turkmenistan is going to discuss the development of Turkmenistan-Latvian relations in the field of textile industry in April, Turkmen media reported on Saturday.

The negotiations will be held within the scope of the participation of the Turkmen delegation at "Fashion and Textiles" specialized exhibition in Riga taking place on April 19 - 21, 2013.

This issue was discussed at the last governmental meeting in Ashgabat.

According to "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper, the president of the country Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted that the presentation of investment, technology and export potential of the textile complex "will open up new opportunities to enter the market of the Baltic States, which is a promising segment of the European trade area."

The Ministry of Textiles, "Turkmenhaly" SJSC ("Turkmen carpet"), and the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan will present their products in Riga.

According to "Dovlet Habarlary" Turkmen State News Agency, Turkmen President, focused on modernization of the textile industry, the development of industrial infrastructure and improving the quality of domestic products, that will serve the further enhancement of exports.

"The development of partnership with foreign business is the key direction of the economic policy of the country. In this regard it is important to expand the geography of relationships, developing new markets and strengthening the position of Turkmenistan in foreign trade turnover of other countries"
