The Azerbaijan Finance Ministry and the Compulsory Insurance Bureau have completed the initial preparation work to join the Green Card international civil liability insurance system, Executive Director of the Compulsory Insurance Bureau Elhan Guliyev said in an interview with Taxes newspaper (the Azerbaijani Taxes Ministry's newspaper) today.

"We have done much for the last year," he said. "We have thoroughly examined the features of the system, the principles of its work and requirements for joining the system."

He added that the bureau's council (the International Association of National Motor Bureau) is an organization governing the system. It gave a preliminary positive conclusion for Azerbaijan's joining the system.

"A meeting of the Steering Committee of the bureau's council will be held in the near future," he said. "A final decision on the issue will be made."

"After performing all necessary operations, Azerbaijan will be able to join the system within two years - in 2014-2015," Guliyev said earlier.
