Azerbaijan Railways JSC will receive the last of the carriages sent for overhaul in Ukraine by August 2013, a source in the JSC told Trend on Monday.
A source said out of the 50 carriages transferred to Ukraine for overhaul, 30 have already arrived in Baku, of which 10 carriages (two trains) run along the Baku-Tbilisi route.
"The remaining carriages will also be renovated, as we will receive them after the overhaul in August," the source said.
The carriages were sent to Ukraine for repair due to the lack of technological know-how on the matter in Azerbaijan.
As previously said by the deputy head of the company Gurban Nazirov, Azerbaijan Railways plans to buy 100 new passenger carriages as part of a rolling stock renovation. The purchase of 50 locomotives for freight transport and 12 locomotives for passenger transport is also expected.
