The World Bank (WB) will assess the level of poverty in Azerbaijan, head of the WB Baku office Larisa Leshchenko told media today.
Leshchenko said the bank has to interpret the data of the State Statistics Committee, but will begin its own research in this area next year.
"We do not have full access to the initial data whereby the poverty level is calculated, as well as data on households, income and so on," he said. "We will begin a programme to study the situation in this area in 2014."
According to the government, the level of poverty has recently declined in Azerbaijan, reaching six per cent.
