Central bank: Consumer loan rates to be analyzed in Azerbaijan by late 2013

The Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) will finalize analyzing the consumer behavior by late 2013, CBA deputy chairman of board Khagani Abdullayev told media on Friday.

The Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) will finalize analyzing the consumer behavior by late 2013, CBA deputy chairman of board Khagani Abdullayev told media on Friday.

"The analysis of consumer behavior is relevant in connection with the growth of consumer lending," Abdullayev said.

In particular, it is planned to complete analyzing the interest rates on loans by late 2013.

According to the CBA statistics data, the Azerbaijani banks continue reducing the interest rates on loans in local and foreign currency.

As of May 1, 2012, the average rate on bank lending to the Azerbaijani economy in national currency amounted to 13.90 percent compared to 16.05 percent. The average rate on bank lending in freely convertible currency was 14.87 percent compared to 16.05 percent in early May 2012.

As of May 1, 2013 the average interest rate on bank lending to physical entities in national currency amounted to 17.07 percent compared to 18.57 percent as of May 1, 2012. The average rate on bank loans to individual clients in freely convertible currency was 21.63 percent compared to 21.98 percent as of early May 2012.
