Iran and Serbia's trade value stood at 15.5 million dollars in 2012, Deputy Commerce Minister for Economic Affairs, Hamid Safdel, said on Wednesday.

The two countries' bilateral trade has been on the rise in recent years, the Mehr News Agency quoted Safdel as saying.

Safdel made the remarks during his meeting with the Serbian Ambassador to Iran Alexander Tasich.

Safdel, who is also the director of the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran, said Iran's exports accounted for 2.5 million dollars of the above mentioned amount.

Dried fruits and nuts, carpet, zinc, light oils, petrochemical products and shoes were the main Iranian-made exported items, he said.

Iran also imported 13 million dollars' worth of goods such as corn, locomotive spare parts and wagons, automobiles and paper from Serbia, Safdel added.

Tasich for his part stressed that considering the two countries' high potential, bilateral trade should be increased.
