China to supply Uzbekistan with customs equipment

Uzbekistan and China, at the Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade (MFERIT), recently signed an agreement on the transfer of Mobile Inspection and Examination Complexes (MIEC) for use at Uzbek customs posts.

The exchange was signed by the head of Uzbek MFERIT Elyer Ganiyev and P.R.C ambassador to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao. .

The modern, large equipment scanner, which expedites customs clearance and increases security will be delivered at a price of approximately $4.4 million in grants allocated by the Chinese government.

The project was mandated by the president's decree "On measures to further improve and enhance activities of State Customs Agencies" and envisages the delivery of complexes, their installation and commissioning in border customs posts, training the customs services staff in various detailed operations and maintenance, the MFERIT said.
