Azerbaijan seeks consultants for World Bank project

The Social Fund for the Development of Internally Displaced Persons has announced a tender for consulting services for a World Bank (WB) project to improve living conditions and incomes of Internally Displaced Persons in the country, the fund's report, published in the official press on Wednesday said.

Consultation services are being sought to train credit union employees.

Bids must be submitted to the Fund by August 14, 2013 at the address: Baku, Tbilisi Avenue, 57D.

This is the third project in the sphere of ​​improving the well-being of displaced persons in Azerbaijan. The project was approved in 2011 and is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the IBRD is part of the WB).

Government participation in the project amounts to $28.5 million, and the World Bank's comes to $50 million. Thus, the total financing of the project is $78.5 million. The agreement on the loan was signed on November 16, 2011.

It will include the implementation of about 200 micro-projects, which will cover 120-150 thousand people. The project will also contribute to improving the living conditions of about 30,000 people. About 14,000 young people will be able to train and to obtain grants to start their own businesses.

In addition, about 15,000 micro-credits will be issued to the internally displaced persons to open or expand their own businesses.

In general, about 185,000 IDPs in Azerbaijan will have greater access to infrastructure and services and will be able to improve their living conditions and earning potential within the framework of the World Bank.
