Azerbaijani bank assets increase by nearly a quarter over year

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), as of July 1, 2013, the bank’s assets amounted to 18.19 billion manat compared to 14.72 billion manat in the same period last year, according to a statistical report from the Central Bank.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), as of July 1, 2013, the bank's assets amounted to 18.19 billion manat compared to 14.72 billion manat in the same period last year, according to a statistical report from the Central Bank.

According to the report, assets of banks grew by 23.58 per cent over a year. The total liabilities of the banking sector were estimated at 18.19 billion manat.

The basis of the assets of the banking sector accounted for loans and advances paid to customers to the sum of 12.551 billion manat (a 30.17 per cent increase), investments (1.573 billion manat with a 21.57 per cent increase) and funds on correspondent accounts (998.3 million manat with a decline of six per cent). Loans and deposits to the financial sector amounted to 720.2 million manat with a growth of 11.28 per cent.

The lion share in the structure of liabilities accounts for deposits standing at 8.436 billion manat as of July 1, 2013, showing an increase of 23.64 per cent compared to the same period last year. Loans and deposits from the financial sector amounted to 5.876 billion manat, increasing by 29.44 per cent.

There are 43 banks operating in Azerbaijan.
