Iran exports some $430 million worth of cement

Iran has exported some $430 million worth of cement during first four months of current solar year (started on March 21), ISNA news agency reported citing Iran Customs Administration's statistics.

According to the report, volume of the exported cement reaches some 6 million tons.

Portland cement has shared the main portion of Iran's cement exports with some 4.5 million tons in weight and $350 million in value during the period.

It should be mentioned that, Portland cement has shared totally 17.5 percent of Iran's non-oil exports in weight, and 3.54 percent in value in the period which indicates respectively a 24.63 and 18.38 percent of increase compared to the first four months of the last solar year.

Iraq shared some 67 percent of Iran's Portland cement export during the period, the report said.

Iran has exported some 3 million tons of Portland cement, worth $225 million to Iraq during first four months of the current solar year.

Iran currently exports cement to 24 countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Oman, India, and China.

Iran produced 75 million tons of cement in the previous solar year, some 11.85 million tons of that amount exported.

The country's cement production capacity stands at 80 million tons. Iran with a total production of 65 million tons ranked as the world's third largest cement producer in 2012. The country plans to export over 18.5 million tons of cement in the current solar year.
