Azerbaijan increases import of building materials from Georgia

In January-July 2013 288,540 tons of cement in the amount of $21.32 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan, according to a report posted on website of GruzStat (National Statistical Service of Georgia).

According to the report, the share of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in the reporting period constituted 5.37 per cent.

In comparison with the same period of 2012, the export of cement from Georgia increased by 19.49 per cent, or 45,420 tons. For comparison, in January-July 2012 243,120 tons of cement in the amount of $17.84 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan.

In the reporting period the growth of steel bar export from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. Thus, in January-July 2013 32,640 tons of steel bar in the amount of $20.4 million was exported to Azerbaijan, this is 5.26 per cent more than in January-July 2012. In quantitative terms, the growth constituted 15.89 per cent. For comparison, in the first half of 2012 Azerbaijan imported from Georgia 28,170 tons of steel bar in the amount of $19.38 million.

In January-June 2013 the goods in the amount of $396.78 million, or 26.9 per cent from the total export of the country, was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan for the reporting period.
Export to Azerbaijan increased by 14.72 per cent, in comparison with the same period of 2012. For comparison, in January-July 2012 Georgian goods in the amount of $345.86 million were exported to Azerbaijan.
