Iran imported 1.4 million tires in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began March 21.
The amount shows 24 per cent decrease compared to the same period of time previous year, the ISNA News Agency reported.
The country also produced 4.8 million tires in the mentioned period, which is 23 per cent more than same period of time previous year.
It was reported in July that Iran exported some 23,000 tons of tires in the first quarter of the current calendar year, which is 4 per cent more than same time span previous year.
Iran last year reduced the customs charges for importing truck tires by 15 per cent to reach 11 per cent.
